Veterans' Resources

Here are some online resources especially useful for Veterans. Please contact us if you are aware of additional resources that may interest Vets and we may post that link here.

The Code of Support Foundation leverages the nation’s full spectrum of resources to ensure all members of our military, veterans and their families receive the benefits and support they need and have earned. They work to eliminate the barriers between our veterans and the millions of dollars spent on programs designed to serve them. Visit Code of Support Foundation:  https://www.codeofsupport.org/

Home Buying: VA loans enable veterans to buy homes, when they might otherwise not qualify for a conventional loan. VA loans are issued by private lenders but backed by the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs (VA), allowing veteran homebuyers to secure lower rates, qualify for more expensive homes and purchase a home without a down payment. Read the Complete Home Buying Guide for Veterans: https://www.thezebra.com/resources/personal-finance/veterans-homebuying-guide/

COVID-19: The Association of Defense Communities (ADC), Blue Star Families, and participants of the White Oak Collaborative have joined forces to create the COVID-19 Military Support Initiative (CMSI)—a united, national platform to provide resources and expertise to support communities, states, and military families through this crisis. Ultimately, the mission of the CMSI is to share information, maintain engagement, and develop best practices and policy approaches to ensure our military receives the support it deserves. Visit the COVID-19 Military Support Initiative: https://covid19militarysupport.org/

Mesothelioma: Hundreds of thousands of military members were exposed to asbestos during their service, causing high rates of mesothelioma among veterans. Veterans with mesothelioma may be eligible for various VA benefits, including VA health care and VA disability compensation. Visit: https://www.mesotheliomaveterans.org/veterans/

Best Jobs for Returning Service Members:When returning from active duty and transitioning to civilian life, one of the first things a soldier must do is find a job. While military service provides many critical skills that can translate well into civilian jobs, sometimes the transition itself and communicating those skills to a non-military hiring manager is a big challenge to overcome. Read the blog for some tips to make it easier for you to capture your military skill and translate them into a new civilian life: https://www.bigrentz.com/blog/best-jobs-returning-service-members
