Housing Programs

The Housing Authority of Douglas County provides several types of housing programs for the local community.

Section 8 Housing Choice Vouchers

HADCO is pleased to provide 641 Family Choice  and 105 VASH (Veterans) Vouchers to Douglas County. This program allows for the annual distribution of approximately three million dollars to landlords to assist local families with rent assistance. Eligible families pay 30% to 40% of their adjusted household income towards rent to their landlord and HADCO pays the remaining portion of the rent. HADCO must follow the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Developments regulations on the implementation of this program.

Low Income Public Housing

HADCO owns and manages 154 units throughout Douglas County.  Interested families must be within 80% of the area median income and the family must pass a background and reference screening. Residents pay rent based on 30% of their adjusted household income.  The rental assistance stays with the unit and is not transferable to other landlords.

Multi-Family Properties

HADCO owns a variety of affordable housing programs currently being managed by Douglas Multi-Family Property Management Corporation. These properties are comprised of three Low Income Housing Tax Credit properties, four USDA, Rural Development properties and one Project Based Section 8 Elderly/Disable property in Winston, Oregon. These properties offer different levels of work force and affordable housing  rental assistance to Douglas County.
